St. Mary's Church, Bryanston Square, London.

St Mary's Church was built in 1823-1824. and is situated in Bryanston Square.

It was one of over six hundred churches built using money from a £1,000,000 fund, set up by the governement, in the Church Building Act of 1818. This fund was set up, so it was said, to celebrate the British victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, in 1815 - it was from this that they became known as "Waterloo" Churches.

Visiting today's church website, I'm sure that my grandfather would be very unhappy with the way things have changed!
