This school photograph was taken in October 1954, as usual, on the tennis courts. I don′t appear in this photograph because I was in hospital with Tuberculosis Meningitis (don't try it - it′s not fun), had been for a short while, and would not be out of hosital until January 1956.
My future wife, however, does appear, on the sixth row from the front, and third in from the left.
The quality of the image is the best I can get as not only is the photo old but it′s pasted onto to very thick board, which, because it didn′t want to bend, I had to scan into my computer in small sections. Some of the sections were, then, darker than others, so I had to lighten these before stitching them all together.
Also, when zooming in on the original, it became apparent that photograph was a little out of focus, which doesn′t matter when it was hung on the wal but because noticeable when sanning in.
Some of the people in the photograph, I know and some my wife remembers -there appear in the list below.
I give below a list (a very short list!) of those I do recognize and whose names I remember.
Obviously, the photgraph on this page is far too small to be able to, really, make out any faces so, please, click on the image and, then, click once again, on the image that then appears, to see a much larger version, which can be navigated around by using the sliders that will appear at the same time.
