I used to have a copy of this photo but, as with many things, it′s gone missing. Thanks, however, to Tom Wall, who sent me this copy.
The photgraph was taken in 1952 and I seem to remember sitting there, at the front, not keen that I had to sit on the ground!
I was saddened when told that Barry Roberts and Wilfred Preece are both deceased.
The people shown are:
Back Row - Joe Corfield, Raymond Goodall, Norman Ball, Wendy Chetwood, Betty Cullis, Janet Hurdley, John Maiden, Tom Wall, Peter Terry
Middle Row - Robert Sankey, Jill Espley, Iris Freeman, Mary Derbyshire, Catherine Hassell. Maureen O’Connor, June Ketley, Pat Fildes, Barry Roberts
Front Row - Margaret Jones, Joan Hughes, Gaynor Lee, Barbara Poole, Mr. Stoddard, Christine Haddon, Ann Duddle, Jean Baker, Helen Jones
Sitting, on the ground - Graham Banks, Wilfred Preece, Tommy Hughes, John Newport
It′s strange but I can remember, so very clearly, most of those in the photograph - I can hear their voice, see their smile, and the way they move and walk - the few others, are almost strangers to me, I know the faces but nothing else, which is a pity.
It′s, also, saddening to be told that three people you knew so well have died - Barry Roberts, Wilfred Preece, and Tommy Hughes. Tommy, I knew about, many years ago, but the other two were a shock.
